My Easy Step by Step Guide to Plickers

Plickers is a quick and easy app to use in your classroom.

Plickers is in its essence a QR code which can be read by scanning in up to 4 ways.

Each Plickers card can be read in 4 ways, a, b, c or d. The children hold up the card and using a tablet each card can be scanned in less than a couple of minutes, determining the students response to the question asked.

Some of the of Plickers in my classroom:

  • Formative assessment at the end of a lesson
  • Assessment at the end of a unit
  • Team quiz games
  • Class votes
  • Staff Training
How to Start:

Step 1:

Download the Plickers App and ensure Plickers has access to your photos and camera.
Go to settings> Plickers

Then go to the website here and register:

Next print your Plickers cards

I have the standard cards printed and laminated with standard laminating pouches. These work well for me, but can sometimes but a little tricky. Matt Laminating pouches do work better or you can buy the cards from Amazon, but its not necessary.

Step 2:

  • Set up your class/ classes.
I have one for my class and one for Staff (to use in staff training) you can have as many class as you want, so if you want to use Plickers with more than one class or with smaller groups, you can.

Step 3:

Add a question.

You can add questions via the app or the desktop.

Via The desktop:

You don't need to add an image, but it makes a difference to the appearance of the question. You can use camera, pictures or online images.

Via the App:

Step 4:

  • Load question on app
  • Click live view on desktop.

Click scan on the app and scan the children's cards.

To Note:

  • Tell the children to put down their cards as they see their name ticked.
  • You can re scan if someone says they've made a mistake
  • You can Print off the results if you need to keep a copy of results.
  • You can toggle reveal/ hide answers depending on what you want children to see.
  • You can clear the results and re-scan whole questions.
  • Before Laminating have children's names written on the back, saves mistakes later.

Please get in touch and let me know how you like to use Plickers, I will keep updating this post with further help or information.
